THE ROLLING STONES - NO.2 (1964 LP)
An original 1964 Decca vinyl LP. LK4661 Mono.
This is a first pressing of this landmark album, which has been in my home since my dad bought it around the time it came out. It has seen a lot of use over the years - many parties, sometimes accompanying him to other parties in other parts of London, and in almost continuous use. But with the recent releases, he's bought a brand new copy so he's letting this original one go to someone else to enjoy!
From Discogs: "First pressing with ''unboxed'' red/silver Decca label with the ear logo at 2 o'clock. Upper label rim states ''Made in England''. Blind man text." All of these can be seen on this release!
Matrix numbers on Side A: XARL-6619-1A / Side B: XARL - 6620-2A. And on the Label, side 1 XARL.6619 and Label, side 2 XARL.6620. These all correspond with the 1st pressing numbers given on Discogs.
The 'blind man' text refers to the notes written by Andrew Loog-Oldham on the back cover, which was removed from later releases - you can see it in the photos!

VINYL: Fair. both sides show signs of a lot of playback use, clearly marked with scrapes and some scratches, but the whole record plays very well on my Sherwood record player, which is sensitive and often jumps when encountering scratches - it doesn't do that with this record. The sound is remarkably good - down to the deep grooves of original 1960s records.
SLEEVE: Fair to Poor! It is complete and original but there is considerable wear, which is clearest on the cover - Brian Jones has turned white. No idea why - this isn't something which has leaked onto the sleeve, it just seems to be some sort of fading. Name written on label of side 2, and on reverse - ironically, this was my Aunt Decca, who shared a name with the label! A 3/10!
Grading Definitions
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. 5+ - 7 out of 10
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced. 5 and below out of 10
