PULNOC was a Czech rock band. The group was founded in early 1988 by Milan Hlavsa after the dissolution of the group The Plastic People of the Universe. Except Hlavsa and singer Michaela Nemcova, came to the group cellist Tomas Schilla, keyboardist Josef Janicek and violist Jiri Kabes. This assembly also added guitarist and drummer Peter Jancak and Petr Kumandzas. PULNOC took some songs of Plastic People.
Hlavsa wanted to name the band Maskovani Bandite rytmu (Masked bandits of the beat), but finally chose the name PULNOC. Unlike The Plastic People of the Universe were permitted without any problems PULNOC concerts in public, even in 1989 could leave on a tour to the USA.
