(T-X-2-2553)

Side 1: T1-2553-G4 #2

Side 2: T2-2553-G4

Labels have black rainbow color-band without "subsidiary" rim text.

RIAA #3, This version was pressed by Capitol's plant in Scranton, PA (identified by stamped letters I over AM inside a triangle).

Vinyl: VG to G, quite a few scratches and wispy lines, but these older Beatles records are well known for being playable even in the worst conditions. But, honestly, no one buys a butcher cover and cares about the record. A NM- copy of this record only, won't set you back much. Be sure to view all pictures provided.

Cover: VG, brown staining present, slight water damage, a small portion of the trunk cover paste over has worn off on the front cover middle right near the opening, cracks around the edges and ringwear on the back cover. Ringo's black v-neck is clearly visible assuring you it's a geniune 2nd state butcher cover. Be sure to view all pictures provided.

Labels and Inner Sleeve: Mint labels, VG original yellow Capitol '66 inner sleeve with no splits, just averaging creases. Be sure to view all pictures provided.

A very nice collectors copy!

Here's a little background info on the release:

Underneath the regular cover in the picture shown is the so-called ''butcher'' cover of this release which induced such an outrage that the album was recalled and new artwork was created from an earlier Beatles photoshoot. A small number of copies escaped and appeared on the market nonetheless. These are known as ''first state'' butcher covers. Not wanting to lose time with waiting until the new covers were ready, Capitol decided to first use the new front slicks and glue them over the original artwork, to hide its offensive picture from the public eye. The (not too many) copies of this that came unto the market are known as ''second state'' butcher covers. These are descernible by checking the cover in the middle on the right hand side. If the ''butcher'' artwork is underneath, a dark triangle (of Ringo's turtleneck) shines through (see ''more images''). If the pasted slick is removed and the original artwork thus restored the release is known as a ''third state'' butcher cover. All three states are known in stereo too.

Warning! Please read:

Any and all bidders! Records are an impulse buy. I do my best to grade accordingly, and with that being said; my NM might be your VG+, which makes record grading subjective. By bidding on this item, you as the bidder/potential buyer are accepting that possibility. You are also accepting that I will not discount a record once received because you believe it to be graded wrong. I do not accept returns unless you file a case with Ebay. Too many buyers in the past have looked for anything and everything to acquire a discount. This will not be tolerated. In bidding, you have accepted my terms. Thank you.

As always, it will be professionally cleaned, and packaged in new anti static inner sleeve, and quality outer sleeve.

I ship media mail, but I am flexible, just let me know what you want.

USA buyers only.
