Discharge - Grave New World - Original vinyl LP
This an original 1986 pressing of one of England's finest punk bands - except that this album is anything but punk!
It had become increasingly clear since their ground breaking "HEAR NOTHING, SEE NOTHING, SAY NOTHING" 1982 LP that the band's musical direction was heading to a much more metal-edged sound and this release totally rubber-stamped that feeling. It was not at all well received by the fans as, to my mind, it was far ahead of its time. But there's no doubting the talent and energy inherent in the four musicians of this period in their long career. I guess fans disliked the singer's complete change of vocal style, something which possibly came as a complete shock at the time.
Nevertheless, the record is packed with bone-crunching riffs and, certainly lyrically, was still dealing with what the band considered to be important issues in the mid-1980s. This is unquestionably an absolute gem and truly paved the way for what was to come in the early 1990s. A must for any Discharge fan wanting to bolster their collection!
My copy is in very good condition considering I've had it since the day it was first released, and all photos are my original item for sale.
