JR Monterose The Message mono JARO JAM 5004 Deep groove original pressing
JR Monterose (ts), Tommy Flanagan (p) Jimmy Garrison (b) Pete La Roca (d) Recorded 1959
The record looks VG and plays VG to VG+. Both sides have a significant amount of scuffing and some not deep hairline marks. Music plays strong and enjoyable with light noise audible during quite passages but no heavy repetitive ticking. Spindle Marks on both labels. Grooves show some play but are not gray or damaged.
LISTEN TO SOUND SAMPLES below from beginning, middle and end of Side 1 and from beginning and end of Side 2 . No audio fix up of any type has been done. Samples were recorded using a stereo cartridge and are heard in stereo. Use of a mono cartridge or a mono button will reduce noise and improve sound quality.
The cover is G.
The front cover has some shine with moderate wear and ring wear. There is yellowing tape along the entire top and bottom seams and spine. I think the tape could be removed with the proper chemical and some time investment, which would greatly improve the appearance of the front. About 1 inch from the top of the spine, there is a tear that runs up to the top seam for app. 4 inches so that the whole bottom part of the cover is loose including 4 inches of the top seam at the pocket. The tear could be glued. The back cover has heavy wear and fading with some writing. Dents, rounding and heavy wear spots at corners. The bottom seam has 3 pieces of slick missing totaling app 3 inches. Spine has yellow tape on it and is readable, but about 1 inch of the slick is peeling loose.
Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on record.
My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied. No hassles.
