A really great copy of the first UK pressing of this classic album by Led Zeppelin. Original copies of this gatefold record came with an Obi strip that carried the title of the album as there was no reference to it on the cover artwork. This particular copy seems to have the obi cut to size and pasted onto the front cover. I have measured the dimensions of the 'sticker' and they match exactly the dimensions of the obi strip. So my theory is that a previous owner cut up the Obi and stuck it on the cover or else the record company issued some copies like this. The cover itself is in excellent condition with a minimal amount of shelf-wear and no seam-splits or tears. For an unlaminated cover it has survived remarkably well. There is some sticker residue left in the top right hand corner of the front cover (see photos).
The printed inner sleeve is in almost perfect condition apart from some writing in biro that says 'Record 352, Led Zeppelin' (see photos). The labels on the vinyl are bright and clean without any tears or writing. side one of the record has a few light scrapes but they are very much superficial and don't result in any repetitive clicks. Overall the record is very silent with only a light amount of surface noise sometimes audible in between songs and in quieter passages. The record sounds fantastic and I think this first UK pressing has a particularly dynamic sound. Don't hesitate to contact me with any queries you may have in relation to this auction.
