FROM THE ESTATE AND PERSONAL COLLECTION OF MANHATTAN SONGWRITER AND PAST PRESIDENT OF BROADCAST MUSIC INDUSTRY (BMI) ROBERT B. SOUR, A 1957 BING CROSBY TEST PRESSING THAT WAS NEVER APPARENTLY RELEASED UNDER THE TITLE THAT IS SHOWN ON THE RECORD. THIS IS AN UNKNOWN RECORDING AND IS NOT SHOWN ON ANY DISCOGRAPHY THAT I WAS ABLE TO FIND FOR EITHER BING CROSBY OR FOR GOLDEN RECORDS.
FOUR LP ALBUMS BY BING CROSBY MADE FOR CHILDREN BY GOLDEN RECORDS IN 1957 WERE RELEASED; THE TITLES TO THESE FOUR WERE "A CHRISTMAS STORY", "ALI BABA AND THE FORTY THIEVES", "NEVER BE AFRAID", AND "JACK B. NIMBLE - A MOTHER GOOSE FANTASY".
THE SONGS ON THE TEST PRESSING LISTED IN THIS AUCTION CONTAINS ALL THE SONGS, IN THE SAME SEQUENCE, AS ARE ON THE RELEASED ALBUM, "A CHRISTMAS STORY". THE TITLE TO THIS TEST PRESSING IS "THE MAGIC AXE" WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE NEVER BEEN RELEASED UNDER THAT NAME. IT WAS RELEASED AS "A CHRISTMAS STORY".
THIS IS A DEEP GROOVE TEST PRESSING, RECORD # GRC 21 (BOOK AND LYRICS BY SUNDGAARD AND WILDER): NARRATION AND SONGS BY BING CROSBY. THE RECORD PLAYS THROUGH FINE WITH NO ISSUES. FROM DECADES OF STORAGE I WOULD RECOMMEND A CLEANING. LIKE MOST OF THE RECORDS IN THIS COLLECTION OF PROFESSIONAL RECORDINGS IT IS DOUBTFUL THIS WAS EVER PLAYED. IT WAS FOUND IN A CELLOPHANE SLEEVE THAT HAD DETERIORATED.
ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NEEDED JUST ASK.
