GETATCHEW KASSA, THE WALKING BROTHERS, BIRTUKAN WEY LOMMI, ETHIOPIA 7” VINYL.

Original 1975 7” vinyl made in East Africa on the Phillips label, so the pressing was very good. The B side is Gofere hugnilign. Both sides sung in Amharic, the language most widely used in Ethiopia. Getatchew is one of many artists that released records during the Golden Years of vinyl in Ethiopia. This was released in 1975, the year after Hailie SELASSIE was overthrown by the Derg. The crackdown on music releases was just beginning. Further information about Ethiopian jazz, folk and ballads is available on the internet and discogs site. This is quite rarely available and is an original 7” vinyl single from 1975. The vinyl plays all the way through without jumping. It does have some scratches which you can only see when you hold it up to the light. The vinyl is not worn down much like many Ethiopian vinyls from that era, so it plays well, but I’ve given it a grading of Good plus to be on the safe side. The labels are good with no handwriting or stickers. It comes in a plain white new sleeve as the original sleeve is long gone. I do have some other Ethiopian vinyls to list on the Amha label but they are very worn!
