This is the very heart and fibre of the messages in song The Cathedrals live, breathe and sing. Not long ago in a worship service George Younce said: "We would be six of the biggest fools who ever lived if all we did was ride on a bus and sing. Yes, six of us . . . the quartet, the piano player and the bus driver. Being away from our homes and families the greater part of the time is.worth it only, so long as we are singing praises to God and proclaiming His salvation plan for the souls of men." Mack Taunton, the great tenor of the group, recently said: "This is the best album we’ve ever done," and they are so excited about the wonderful cooperation they received at the recording sessions from all the performers, technicians and musicians. They are grateful indeed to the engineer, Bill Vandervort, for his able assistance. The album is rich and full with exceptionally fine material, creative arrangements and The Cathedral’s smooth, suave style of singing is enhanced by the use of violins, a piano, organ, drums, vibraharp, harpsichord, steel and rhythm guitars. A truly outstanding addition to The Cathedral Quartet was made when Lome Matthews from Toronto, Canada, joined the group as their new pianist, thus permitting George Webster, the capable baritone, to sing full-time with the group. Lome possesses a tremendous piano talent. CHOOSE TODAY and I KNOW HE'S MINE both have some of the greatest vocal and musical arrangements this reviewer has ever heard. Harmony, lush and velvety, is the trademark of this talented group which travels out of Akron, Ohio. Glen Payne, George Webster, Mack Taunton and George Younce are consecrated artists much in demand, traveling widely in concert, television and personal appearances. A tre- mendous impact is invariably felt by those people privileged to also attend church worship services across the nation where their gospel music and sincere personal witness are heard. George Younce recorded the classic negro spiritual, STEAL AWAY. With the beauty and serenity of the melody as an expressive background, he gives a splendid reading of a poem with the same title. His voice is resonant and the recitation compelling and matchless. He is a versatile performer and his LAUGHING SONG is a bit of clever entertaining much in demand wherever the group performs. It is unique, breezy and infectious and you’ll find yourself smiling, then chuckling and finally laughing heartily at this happy man who is singing this rollicking number with such obvious relish. The Cathedral Quartet members are sincere, genial and consecrated. They invite you to enjoy this album they have recorded and make a request of you: "If you believe in prayer — please put The Cathedrals on your prayer list." Cecile Norcross
