The word gospel literally means the good news concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation. It seems then that gospel music would be a message of good news set to music. That is precisely what it is. For too long Christians have buried their great message in music more resembling a funeral dirge. Not so now! You know the moment you hear gospel music that those who are singing are aware of the importance and the power of the message they deliver in song. Today more people are responding to the good news of salvation as proclaimed in music than through the spoken word.
