Unfortunately the former owner must have left the discs laying out for long periods of time allowing dust to collect deep down into the grooves.   We've cleaned them thoroughly by hand, but there is still quite a bit of noise for records that don't show any apparent moderate to heavy wear. Perhaps if the discs were cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner or something similar they would play much better.
