As the old saying goes, he practically cut his teeth on the church benches in All-Day Gospel Singings. His father being a music teacher, song writer, and presiding officer of many of the "all-day sings". Jake Hess introduced to gospel music a distinct sound, one of sincerity and clarity, and one that has many times been imitated but never equalled. Many outstanding men in the field of gospel music and entertainment have had great things to say about Jakes work. Mr. Bud Prager, a man known in the music field and a man respected for his judgment in this field, had this to say, "Jake Hess has become one of gospel music's most revered and respected singers, which is as it should be. His work reflects the char- acter and personality of a genuinely wonderful person and this combined with an exciting voice and style makes him a Truly great artist."
