PRINCE ‘Do Me, Baby’ 12" Vinyl Promo Single from 1982 (Warner Bros., 1982, Cat N° PRO-A-1035) – RARE

Although the title song “Do Me, Baby” is officially credited as being written by Prince, André Cymone, Prince’s former bassist and childhood friend, may have been its real composer, some allege. In the absence of further evidence to resolve this lingering question, both artists have been listed in the “Composer” field in this posting.

Stamped on the inlay on both sides of this record is the name and location of the erstwhile record pool from when it came, namely: “Greater Baltimore Record Pool 3718 Grenoble road Baltimore, Md. 21229” (Side 1); “G.B.R.P.” (Side 2). Founded by Arthur “Dino” Grier, Baltimore’s number one disc jockey in the late 1970s and 1980s, this particular record pool served as a vital local and regional music marketing resource during this period with more than 50 DJ’s promoting dance music in the Mid-Atlantic. Already well known to the entertainment industry, Grier went on to manage Paramount Limousine which catered to many celebrities and artists living in and visiting Baltimore. Capitalizing on both of these career tracks, Grier nowadays oversees one of the largest funeral service fleets on the East coast and produces video memorials presumably set to lively soundtracks.

Both vinyl, which has a few hairline scratches, and sleeve, which shows a modicum of edge and ringwear and slight discoloration around the perimeter, look to be in Very Good Plus condition.
