Factory sealed)
18 years is a long time… longer if you’re a Rolling Stones fan and have been patiently waiting for a new studio album. All those wishes were granted back in September, when the iconic band announced the release of Hackney Diamonds and debuted its rollicking title track ‘Angry’ along with it.
Named for a reference to British slang for smashed windows or bottles, the new 12-track album Hackney Diamonds was announced by Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, rather fittingly, at the iconic Hackney Empire theatre in East London with a special event hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
Paul has also been busy behind the scenes. To celebrate this blockbuster release, he couldn’t be more delighted to have been asked to work with the band on an incredible project – an exclusive edition of the vinyl and a selection of limited-edition tees in collaboration with the band.
“I consider it an incredible honour to work with Mick, Keith, and Ronnie on this exciting collaboration – as a brand, we’ve always had a close relationship with the music business, and I count The Rolling Stones as one of my all-time musical heroes.” Paul says. “As well as being a fan, I’m also lucky enough to be able to call the band friends. It goes without saying that Hackney Diamonds is a phenomenal album, with a fearless spirit.”
Incorporating the band’s signature colour – red – the vinyl sleeve also features Paul’s distinctive handwriting for the band name and track list on the back.
Hackney Diamonds, the hugely anticipated new album by The Rolling Stones, is released on October 20th on Polydor Records. Following the release of 2016's Grammy Award winning Blue & Lonesome, which featured brilliant versions of blues tracks that helped shape their sound, Hackney Diamonds marks the band’s first studio album of original material since 2005's A Bigger Bang.
Late drummer Charlie Watts features on two tracks, ‘Mess It Up’ and ‘Live By The Sword’. ‘Live By The Sword’ additionally features bass from former Stones bassist Bill Wyman. ‘Sweet Sounds Of Heaven’ featuring vocals from Lady Gaga and keys & piano from Stevie Wonder, ‘Bite My Head Off’ with bass from Paul McCartney, and ‘Get Close’ and ‘Live By The Sword’ with piano from Elton John.
