Elmo Mercer and Jim Hall Recorded in the RCA Victor Nashville Studio Recording Engineer: Chuck Seitz A WORD ABOUT DOTTIE RAMBO 1 he release of a popular record album usually follows a fairly standard procedure. When an artist has cut a hit single, material is added and an album is released. Sacred albums follow different patterns for they are not released in answer to a demand created by a single, but rather they grow out of the popularity of the artist among the gospel and sacred fans. Here is a new Dottie Rambo album. The response to her first release, “Dottie Rambo, Big Voice, Warm Heart,” made this album inevitable. It is not surprising that wherever Dottie goes, with the popular Gospel Echo Trio, she is requested to play and sing solos. She is an unusual girl with a vocal sound that has a quality that is unique. It is a voice so distinctive that one must really learn to appreciate it. People who listen to one song say, “I am not sure,” on the second song they say, “maybe,” and by the third tune they are just another member of the great group of people who are thrilled with Dottie’s singing. Dottie’s voice reflects her faith in what she sings and her face shows the satisfaction and contentment that she derives from gospel music and many of the songs on the album were born in her devout heart. The collection of songs was picked with care and they are performed with the heart and feeling that Dottie always seems to project. They have been arranged by two fine arrangers, W. Elmo Mercer and Jim Hall. I ,/as present at the sessions in which this album was produced and they were conducted in a light and carefree manner which has a way of showing itself on the record you now hold in your hands. Pul it on the turntable, sit back and listen to this fine young artist singing for you in her unique style. Don Light Billboard Nashville Branch
