Up for auction today is a lot of 4symphonic works from the early days of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab LPs for one bid ,first and possibly the best is Peter Tchaikovsky' symphony sixth and final symphony , ( with) conducted by the great Herbert Von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic from 1972 a great work great sound and a great orchestra. Next Ottorino Respighi The Pines Of Rome an orchestral tone poem finished in 1929 Conducted by Lorin Maazel with the Cleveland Orchestra an orchestra Maazel was synonymous with in the 1970s Next, Richard Strauss Also Sprach Zarathustra from 1896 the perhaps most famous opening even symphonic novices that hear it recognize it entitled Dawn The rest of the piece is beautifully scored with a large orchestra and in a typical style of the late romantic era .This is a remaster of one of the great early recordings from Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the that set the stage for other great recordings from Reiner and the CSO with perhaps the greatest producer of orchestral works of the early days of stereo LPs Richard Mohr and his sidekick recording engineer Lewis Layton .True audiophiles know these names. The final one of the four is, The Suites from the movie soundtracks Star Wars ant Close Encounters Of The Third Kind with Zubin Mehta and the Los Angelos Philharmonic orchestra .All of these suites of course were written by John Williams. I can't be sure but I purchased the Tchaikovsky and the Strauss new the other two second hand . All 4 of these LPs vinyl are at least NM condition and the condition of the sleeves varies from ex. to VG. A great chance for someone who collects MOFI LPs from the early days to add to their collection for $10.00 a record
