Title: Katy Lied
Artist: Steely Dan
Catalog: MFSL-1-007
Jacket: Near mint, no splits, cuts, holes, notches, rips or tears.
LP: Pro VG+ for a couple of spindle marks and light marks on the first track on each side.
Notes: The 4th Steely Dan album containing the hit Black Friday and other FM staples, featuring Jeff Baxter & Mike McDonald. This is the album that was plagued with the DBX encoded multi-track masters that for some reason would not decode exactly as expected during the mixing sessions. A trip to the DBX factory in Rochester was even carried out resulting in manual compression controls being installed on the DBX unit that could vary the amounts of decompression to track the signal. Results are varied from pressing to pressing on this title depending on the mastering or re-mastering EQ. The MFSL issue has it’s own unique sound.
