Harvest Records catalog # SHVL 763, stereo, copyright 1969. Pressed in the UK.

A very clean copy of ex-Soft Machine bassist Kevin Ayers' "Joy of a Toy" LP. After one LP with the Soft Machine, Ayers left the band and began his solo career. This is his first album, full of quirky pop / folk songs, which while they have some of the quirkyness and inventiveness of the Canterbury prog scene, are not at all in the style of his former band. Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge and Hugh Hopper all appear on this album, though, along with David Bedford, who also arranged much of the material.

Track List Side One:

Joy of a Toy Continued Town Feeling The Clarietta Rag Girl on a Swing Song for Insane Times

Track List Side Two:

Stop This Train (Again Doing It) Eleanor's Cake (Which Ate Her) The Lady Rachel Oleh Oled Bandu Bandong All This Crazy Gift of Time

Vinyl is in excellent condition. Play surfaces are very clean and quiet. I grade the record near-mint. Laminated gatefold sleeve is VG+, with no writing or split seams, but some silght ringwear and handling wear.

US buyer pays calculated media postage including tracking. Overseas bidders pay calculated air postage.
