Record Description:
As the first Black American to record vocal blues, in 1920, Mamie Smith—singer, dancer, and actress—attained a permanent place in the canon of American music. "You Can't Keep A Good Man Down" reached number four on the U.S. Charts in 1921, following up a series of hits for Okeh penned by Perry Bradford. Condition: E-, with some light scratches on the shellac and significant needle wear on the label.
