The Dark Knight Rises is the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s epic trilogy of Batman movies, starring Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard, Matthew Modine, and Cillian Murphy. The gripping soundtrack was composed by Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, who also composed the music for the two previous movies in the trilogy. Hans Zimmer is one of the most influential and renowned composers, having composed the music for over 100 films, and received nine Academy Award nominations, winning the Oscar for The Lion King. His other credits include Inception, Sherlock Holmes, Gladiator, The Thin Red Line, Rain Man, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows. For this score, Hans Zimmer crowd sourced thousands of voices to participate in recording a chant: "The chant became a very complicated thing because I wanted hundreds of thousands of voices, and it's not so easy to get hundreds of thousands of voices. So, we Twittered and we posted on the internet, for people who wanted to be part of it. It seemed like an interesting thing.” Thousands of people from over 100 countries submitted recordings of themselves chanting the words provided by Zimmer.
