VICTOR ALBUM SET #25, FOUR 12" 78 RPM RECORDS (8 sides)

Highlights from the American opera PORGY AND BESS by George Gershwin, with original Broadway chorus, musicians and director.  Gershwin himself was present at the recording sessions.  This set was released the year following the opera's debut.

The leads are sung by Lawrence Tibbett and Helen Jepson, both of Metropolitan Opera fame.

Songs:  "It Ain't Necessarily So," "The Buzzard Song," " Bess, You Is My Woman Now," "A Woman is a Sometimes Thing," "I Got Plenty o' Nuttin'," "Where is My Bess," "Lullaby (Summertime And the Livin' is Easy," and "My Man's Gone Now."

Records are near mint.  There are a few of light scuffs and scratches scattered over the eight sides.  Album cover, with green paper / half leatherette binding, has wonderful Art Deco graphics, and is in Very Good Plus condition, with very little rubbing on the edges.  There are some scratches and small stains.  Corners are not bumped.  The record sleeves themselves have no tears, except one that has a 1/2-inch margin tear at the top where it's attached to the binding, and just a couple small brown stains.  The gilt lettering on the spine has faded away.

NOTE:  I DONT GRADE LABELS -- see pictures for that information.  I use the eBay record grading system when listing 78's, which is mostly based on visual observation of the wax, shellac, or vinyl.  KEEP IN MIND THAT ALMOST ALL OLD 78's HAVE SURFACE NOISE WHEN PLAYED ON MODERN EQUIPEMENT (except the extremely well-made records).  It's only distracting surface noise, as well as ticks, pops, clicks or jumps, that may affect grading.

SHIPPING:   All shipping will originate from MD 21762 by USPS.   I cannot ship on Saturdays after 12 noon, Sundays, and U.S. national holidays. 

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:  Please do not ask me to circumnavigate custom and duty laws.  I will work with you to find the least expensive shipping costs.  See INVOICING above.  RUSSIAN FEDERATION BUYERS:  Currently there is a minimum 60-day backlog at customs at the Moscow International Airport, mainly for Russian buyers using foreign websites.   UKRAINE BUYERS:  USPS has suspended service to Ukraine postal codes 95000 - 99999.  PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA BUYERS:  I personally have experienced at least a two week delay with some buyers receiving items.
