UNITED ARTISTS UAG 29202

1971 ORIGINAL A-1U UK LP

FANTASTIC 3-FOLD DIE-CUT SLEEVE

 Matrix          UAG 29202 A-1U  3  R O (stamped)

                        UAG 29202 B-2U  1  P (stamped)

Cover            EX+

The original E.J. Day Group 3-fold die-cut heavy card cover, which forms a “T” shaped triptych when opened up, is in superb condition for its 44 years. These covers often have significant splits and folding to the inter-locking cut card. Not this one. No marks, writing, sticker residue, indentations or splits. No discernible ring wear or ring press. Only one or two of the tiniest spider lines on the edges, and some light signs of ageing and corner tip rub, but that’s all. Solid spine with fully legible text. See photos for detail – I would be happy to send more on request. A fine example of one of the all-time classic space rock album covers. Hard to find much better than this.

Inner             EX-

Plain white inner has slight discolouration and a few creases, but otherwise fine with no side or bottom edge splits.

Labels           VG+

Original first issue cream UA labels with the rim text “A Product of Liberty – United Artists Records Ltd” (later pressings omit the reference to Liberty and merely state “A Product of United Artists Records”). Just a hint of a few spindle traces each side when angled to the light. Note that both labels do have a small amount of general age-related staining (hence only VG+).

Vinyl             EX

The original first press heavyweight vinyl is in great condition, both sides having retained much of their original sheen with minimal dulling. A few light hairline marks and sleeve removal traces, but nothing that affects play. The LP has been fully play tested on a Project/NAD/Ortofon system with Bayerdynamic T90 headphones. There are no skips or jumps. Be aware there is some crackle and static on playback, especially in some of the quieter passages, but overall the sound quality is superb, and it was a really great listen.

Any questions – please just ask.

SEE MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE

I have included the maximum of 12 high quality photos, taken in good light with a decent camera and from a variety of angles, so you can properly judge the detailed condition of the cover, inner and labels for yourself. Any significant marks or defects on these aspects of the LP will be clearly visible in the photos.

My own gradings are based on the standard record collector guidelines (see below).

I am not a record dealer, I am a 48-year old North London vinyl enthusiast re-creating my own 1970s-80s private collection from a wide range of sources, having foolishly sold all my original LPs at a university record fair in my twenties! I enjoy researching albums, and I am selling just a small number of them on ebay as a Sunday afternoon hobby. Please do ask if you want any more information about this LP before bidding.

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your purchase I will be very happy to give a full refund (minus return postage) if the record is returned to me in the same condition within 14 days. Please message me immediately to resolve any concerns that you have and I will do my best to help - I have 100% positive feedback and I would like to keep it that way. Thanks.

Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding!

POSTAGE & PACKAGING

The LP will be very securely packaged. It will be sent in a new polythene sleeve, together with two additional thick card inserts (one either side), all set inside a new dedicated record mailer envelope. The vinyl will be separated from the cover to prevent any ring marking in transit. The package will be secured with generous thick brown tape and marked with additional large “FRAGILE” taped stickers twice on both sides.

I make no charge for this packaging, and I make no profit on postage (the prices below are what I actually pay to send the LP – as you will see from the postage label if you buy from me).

I send all my LPs tracked & signed. This provides added security for both buyer & seller.

Note that most single LPs when packaged will weigh around 500g, possibly a little more. Double LPs & single LPs with gatefold sleeves will certainly weigh more than 500g.

My charges are the actual UK post office prices for these weights, as follows:

RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE GRADING GUIDE

MINT: The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
