Records are graded on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being mint. A graded 7 vinyl will be in excellant condition with very few light scratches. A graded 5 will have more or deeper scratches but should still play OK. A Graded 7 cover may have some minor writing and/or wear, but will still be colorful and complete. A grade 5 cover may have splitting, wear, etc. but will still be presentable.
