I am selling this 1st pressing copy of Pink Floyd's EPIC Animals LP, SHVL-815, on the EMI / HARVEST label with Matrix Numbers: "A-2U" & "B-2U" proving it's a genuine example of a copy from the very first UK pressing from January 1977!

This is the WIDE SPINE "Garrod & Lofthouse" version of the outer sleeve, complete with the original 9" cut-out Inner sleeve and no barcode

The vinyl is practically in "AS NEW" condition - it could be taken as never played if it were not for a VERY light spindle mark on the label on each side (you have to hold the record in a certain light to see these)

The sound is clean, dynamic, quiet and tonally perfect IMHO!

The album listed is the original 1st UK pressing, from January 1977 and is totally complete - there are important features which distinguish these from later, less desirable pressings (of which there are many) The easiest way to confirm a first pressing is from the matrix stamped on the run off grooves on the vinyl, the earliest being -2u, -2u later pressings feature for example -2 or -3 and the records are much flimsier and less robust, which can cause confusion for unsuspecting buyers/collectors.

Also please note the covers differ in that the 1st issues have the gatefolds with only one opening at the rear, and the front is sealed with a flap - later issues are different.

This record has clearly not been played more than a few times since being bought new 38 years ago - It's obviously been stored away safely for most of that time

These very 1st Garrod & Lofthouse covers are the rarest and most sought after to find - the date of printing is below the Harvest logo on the inside cover "7701" being the year and month.

In this condition, the record is extremely collectable and almost impossible to find - I have seen very few of these first pressings for sale anywhere and never anything as clean as this. The audio is top quality throughout, with the clear, deep basey feel only found with earliest copies! This is complete with the original lyric thick card record sleeve, also in superb condition!
