SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES:  AThe most outstanding feature of this pressing is its fidelity and quiescence. I have been an audiophile most of my life, as well as a musician, and have run across very few examples of this album that play so beautifully and quietly as this one, a superior pressing on extremely high quality vinyl stock. And this is a curious pressing and cover, the sound engineer, "Barry" is inscribed in the runout area. The cover has been signed by someone, but does not match any known examples of the band members. (Nick Mason is a possibility as some artists adapt a new style or a progressive change over time) The record plays flawlessly with outstanding fidelity and dynamics. Test play was on a Technics SL-D205 direct drive turntable with a Shure M-97XE cartridge properly aligned, and tracking at 1.25 grams.

Record Grading Scale

M Mint USA issues should be still sealed (ss) and no shelf wear is present on the cover and shrink. Mint can sometimes be an unsealed 45, or import LP, or usa LP originally issued without shrink, and on rare occasion an opened mint record, which must appear unplayed and be flawless in every way.

NM "Near mint or "M-" the record appears brand new, perhaps unplayed.
NM has no groove wear, plays exactly like a brand new record, The surface may have a small inaudible scuff or two, as sometimes found on a brand new just opened record.

EX/ VG++ "excellent" still a nearly perfect record except for several light scuffs, or a hairline scratch. An Ex record has been previously played although the groove appears unworn. EX reproduces music supremely well, in full fidelity and dynamics and free of distortion. There maybe several light ticks between tracks or during quiet passages.

VG+ very good plus may have more visible scuffs and scratches, although these will be superficial and inaudible. The groove will still appear lustrous with perhaps the first visible indication of scoring or wear. VG+ plays almost perfectly, maybe a trace of intermittent distortion during loud passages, maybe several ticks between tracks or during quiet passages.

VG Very good is the typical used record with light surface scratches and/or light to moderate groove wear. Play will produce audible noise and distortion in varying degrees, usually better on a lower resolution mass produced record player, but sometimes not so cleanly on a high resolution system.

VG- will have visible groove wear plus an additional issue such as a deeper scratch which produces an audible tick, or perhaps cosmetic detractors such as writing on the label.

G "good" plays through the continuous groove without skipping, (thus said to be good) usually more advanced spindle wear and visible groove wear which will produce noise and distortion. "Good" may have a deeper scratch that produces a repeater tick.

"fair to poor" is not good, may fail to play properly, may be cracked or chipped, or produces more noise than music, a worn out record.

My grading scale is based upon the Goldmine standard. All records are graded visually. Some records will be play graded. Play grade will always be on a high resolution audiophile system, cartridge and stylus shape specified, so the buyer can make a more informed decision. I am a hifi enthusiast as well as a professional musician, qualified to accurately grade a record to meet or exceed the audiophile's expectation.
