MY GRADING GUIDELINES Visually graded only. (revised from another source)
MINT (M) : **I NEVER GRADE MINT** if I do, let me know
NEAR MINT (NM):
NM VINYL= Nearly perfect, no signs of wear. May have some clinging STATIC DUST.
NM COVER= no creases, folds, seam splits, water stains or other similar defects. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if just purchased but opened.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+):
VINYL= Record will show minimal signs of play, otherwise handled with care. Record may have very light scuffs that should not affect a listening experience.
Label may have slightly or barely noticeable ring wear or discoloring. Center hole has not been misshaped by play.
VG+ COVER= May have slight signs of wear, a cut-out hole, corner cut or ding. Minor wear or ring wear. Highly acceptable to all but a few collectors.
VERY GOOD (VG):
Issues in a VG+ record are more pronounced in VG graded vinyl. Playable, but surface noise is possible, especially in soft passages
or during intro or fade. It should not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches.
(sometimes slightly felt) Label may be marred by writing, or tape or stickers (or their residue). This may apply to picture sleeves/LP covers.
However, VG will not mean all these issues are present. But perhaps some.
