For the majority of its career, the group consisted of  (vocals, drums),  (vocals, bass) and (vocals, guitar).

Originally formed as a four-piece  band, The Young Aborigines, in 1978 by Diamond (vocals), John Berry (guitar), Yauch (bass) and  (drums), the band appeared on the compilation cassette , before recording their first , , in 1982. Berry left shortly thereafter, and was replaced by Horovitz. After achieving moderate local success with the 1983   "", Schellenbach dropped out and the group made a full transition to hip hop, releasing a string of successful. The Beastie Boys toured with  in 1985 and a year later released their debut album . The group sold 26 million albums in the United States and 50 million albums worldwide, making them, according to , "the biggest-selling rap group" since the magazine began recording sales data in 1991.

With seven  or better albums from 1986–2004, the Beastie Boys were one of the longest-lived hip hop acts worldwide. In 2009, the group released digitally remastered deluxe editions of their albums ,,  and . Their eighth studio album, , was released in 2011, and received positive reviews. They were inducted into the in April 2012, "just the third rap group to enter the Hall, after  (2009) and  (2007)." The following month, MCA died of  of the . In June 2014, Mike D confirmed that he and Ad-Rock would not continue with the Beastie Boys, out of respect to Adam Yauch.

History 1981–1983: Formation and early years

Prior to forming the Beastie Boys, Michael Diamond was part of a number of bands such as the  Jazz Band, BAN and . The Beastie Boys formed in July 1981 when the Young Aborigines bassist Jeremy Shatan left New York City for the summer and the remaining members Michael Diamond, John Berry and Kate Schellenbach formed a new  band with Adam Yauch called Beastie Boys. The band supported , the , the  and  at venues such as , A7, Trudy Hellers Place and , playing at the latter venue on its closing night. In November 1982 the Beastie Boys recorded the 7"   at 171A studios, an early recorded example of .

The group re-entered the studio in 1988, emerging with a more artistically mature second album, . Produced by the  and Matt Dike, this extremely -heavy opus is still considered one of the strongest works by the Beastie Boys, and Rolling Stone ranked it No.156 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It is also considered a landmark in hip hop recordings due to its large array of samples and intricate use of multi-layering. The album was released in 1989 by , after the falling out between the group and . It failed to match the sales of Licensed to Ill, reaching No.14 on the Billboard 200 and No.10 on the Billboard R&B charts. The lead single, "", reached No.36 on the Billboard 100 and No.10 on the R&B charts. Rolling Stone would describe the album as "the / of hip hop."Paul's Boutique would eventually sell a million copies, despite the initially weak commercial reception. The album's title was the inspiration for Hotelier Paul Ruffino in the boon of the Boutique Hotel industry race between East Coast/West Coast. The band digitally remastered and released the album through their own website.

Packaging :

I take great care during packaging and do each one personally. I use hand cut cardboard, which I get from a trucking company. (It's so thick that you will save it and use it again.) Each piece is 1/4 inch thick and together they are very stronge. I always remove the record from the picture sleeve and ship them inside a clear plastic record sleeve. All packages are marked in red : "Fragile Sticker" on one side and "Do Not Bend" on other both side.

Postage :

You have to pay for the postage.   This record will weigh 6 ounces when ready to ship. US winners can figure out your own postage costs for US First Class or Media Mail with tracking. I will send it through USPS and you will get an email with the tracking number. Overseas winners will get it sent by First Class Mail International. (Buyers from Brazil, France and Italy will assume all risks for shipping to your country.) I will send your record as soon as you pay. (same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM, Monday thru Friday) I will combine postage if you win more than one record. Please wait for my invoice for all of your winnings in one package. All other defects, such as cut-out holes (CO), stickers and/or writing on the label (SOL / WOL) and warping (wrp) are noted as listed here.
