10" 78rpm record.
Black Swan label #2005
Pre-War blues by Lulu Whidby acc. by Henderson's Novelty Orchestra (t/? Chink Johnson-tb/? Garvin Bushell or Edgar Campbell-cl/? Cordy Williams-vn/Fletcher Henderson-p/bj/bb.
"Strut Miss Lizzie" (mx.P 109-2) b/w "Home Again Blues" (mx.P 108-2). Recorded in NYC circa April 1921.
Grade V-. Moderately heavy scuffing. Light groove wear."Home" side has a small blemish on the outer edge that sounds for about 5 or 6 grooves as well as a scratch that produces some pops for the last half of the record. Plays very well, much better than it looks. Not a bad copy.
Grading:
I use the following grading scale:
E+: A choice copy with no wear whatsoever.
E: Virtually no trace of groove wear with minimal traces of use and handling.
E-: Above average with a slight degree of groove wear/marks not enough to seriously detract from audio quality.
V+: Obviously well played, still enjoyable. Noticable greying in the grooves.
V: Very well worn, but still listenable. Expect noticable surface noise. Possibly some stressed grooves.
V-: Pretty well gone. May be possible to coax a little more life out of it using the right stylus.
P: Most likely unplayable. Filler copy.
On records where grades between sides are vastly different I will use a dual grade (ex. E/V-).
I have been collecting 78 rpm records for over 40 years. I try to be very conservative with grading. Most buyers should be very pleased.
Unless otherwise specified, any label issues in the photos are the result of glare from the camera flash and not on the labels themselves.
Shipping:
Records will be securely shipped using cardboard squares and foam peaunts. I've been mailing 78 rpm records for some time now and have not yet lost a record in shipping. However, the possibility for damage or loss does exist. All records are shipped in uncracked, unbroken condition unless specified in the listing. I am not responsible for any damage that occurs during shipping. Insurance is strongly recommended for purchases over $100. If you would like your purchase insured, please email me after auctions end and I will include it in the invoice.
I will combine wins to save on shipping. If you have mutiple wins, please do not pay until receiving an invoice.
I will ship to international locations, however, international shipping has become quite expensive. Please email before bidding if you are outside of the U.S. Be advised I will NOT accept returns on any items shipped outside of the U.S. Lastly, please don't ask me to falsify the value of your purchase on customs forms as I will not do so!!
Please email me with any questions. Good luck and thanks for looking. I plan on listing around 20 records of the same types every two weeks. Please keep an eye open for more Jazz/Blues/Dance band records.
