Austin’s 13th Floor Elevators can be argued to be the first ever Psychedelic Rock band. Originally released in 1966, this release commemorates the 50th anniversary of the song which reached #55 on the Billboard Top 100 and lead to an appearance on American Band Stand. The iconic psychedelic raver backed with the original b-side of the single, Tried To Hide.
The art is by John Cleveland, and originally adorned the bass drum of the John Ike Walton’s kit in the band. The tracks here are taken from a French EP, furthering the RSD 2016 theme of celebrating the relationship between the US and France.
