Die belgische Kultband um die Dewaele Brüder haben sich sämtliche musikalischen Gäste des Nachtclubs nicht nur ausgedacht, sondern über 12 Monate in ihrem neuen Dewee Studio in Gent sämtliche Songs geschrieben, aufgekommen, produziert und größtenteils selbst eigespielt. Dabei reichen die Arrangements von Kraut-Techno über Neo-Soul, von Psychobilly bis zu Hardcore (feat. Igor Cavalera von Sepulatura). "Café Belgica" ist der fünfte Film von Felix van Groeningen, der zuletzt mit "The Broken Circle" zahlreiche internationale Preise gewann und das Publikum weltweit zu Tränen rührte. Mit hypnotischen Bildern und einem treibenden Soundtrack von Soulwax erzählt der Film die Geschichte zweier Brüder, die mit einem Club die Szene Gents Anfang der 2000er aufmischen, sich im Rausch des Nachtlebens erst wiederfinden und dann zu verlieren drohen. Ein Film, wie eine durchzechte Nacht, Kater inklusive. "Café Belgica" feierte seine Premiere im Wettbewerb des Sundance Filmfestivals 2016.
