"Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at 'The Club' is a 1966 album by musician . It received the for in 1967. Though the original liner notes state that it was recorded at the in , it was actually recorded at Capitol's Hollywood studio with an invited audience and an . The reason for this discrepancy, according to the liner notes in the CD reissue, is that Adderley and the new manager of Club DeLisa (which had been renamed "The Club", after operating for years in Chicago under its old name) were friends, and Adderley offered to give the club a bit of free publicity.
The became a surprise hit, reaching #11 on the . On this album, played a ; however, subsequent live performances saw him taking up the new and mellower-sounding instrument.
The review by Steve Huey awarded the album 5 stars and states: "Adderley's irrepressible exuberance was a major part of his popularity, and no document captures that quality as well -- or with such tremendous musical rewards -- as Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." awarded the album 3 out of 4 stars, stating: "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy is a hard swinging live album with one of Cannon's hottest outings on 'Sticks'."
THE VINYL : NM : This beautiful record is lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, and both sides of the LP surface retain all of their original gloss. Bright, undamaged Capitol "Rainbow" Labels (please see photos). Other than some light cosmetic sleevewear from the original paper inner sleeve, there are no marks on either side.
The record shows exceptional care and handling.
THE COVER : EX : Generally well stored / the front shows some light scuffing and partial ringwear / some age-related yellowing showing on the primarily white background color on the back cover / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact with minimal edgewear / no writing, stains, paper loss or dirt.
Included is the original paper inner sleeve. It also shows some yellowing with moderate top fraying (please see photos).
We have placed both the cover and the LP into separate, protective plastic sleeves.
