Dharmatma features one of the most hooking mean oriental melodies played with searing fuzz! Superb tunes, rough playing! Fantastic period Kalyanji Anandji score. Rare LP!
Together with R. D. Burman's SHALIMAR, this 1975 LP is one of the most sought after Bombay soundtracks. The main attraction is the instrumental track CABARET DANCE MUSIC that accompanies a psychedelic club scene that features black painted Indians as savages. The music: MAD HINDI PSYCH FUNK, a heavy conga funk beat topped with crazy moog and heavy crime horns and hysteric screaming & laughter & sexy giggles. Frantic Stuff!
More good news: Total SIX instrumentals on this record. Some are breakbeat pieces with Morricone like melodies on top, some wordless vocals and fuzz guitar all over. Heavy fuzz guitar! The other three instro's are more ethnic (Arab influenced) but with enough effects and rythms to keep it interesting. Unlike other Indian soundtracks, there are only 4 songs on this which are very enjoyable and some are funky too.
