This is a moving story about a poor cover and a great vinyl. If you've been reading my Blue Horizon LP listings over the last weeks then you'll know I report the covers are susceptible to wear, some more than others. This is one of those 'some'. On the plus side the glossy card is of a medium grade with no seam splits, rips or writing.  The corners are fairly decent and the mouth is good. But you can see in the photos the cover has taken the brunt of protecting the record over the last 47 years. Although structurally strong, the orange on the front has been rubbed in places and the back has lost some 'blackness' on the bottom. Also there is edge wear and ringwear along with a few creases. Rating wise I would say 5/10 to reflect the cosmetic condition. (Note the Dobells price label.....oh for a time machine to hunt the record bins down London's West End in 1970).
But the vinyl is polar opposite regards condition. The labels are nice and clean and the spindle holes show evidence of one or two spins at best; note the vinyl whiskers at the holes from the pressing process which is always an indication of minimal play from new. The machine etched matrices are 7-63864-A1/B1 and the light from the camera has picked up the run-off ridges - they are not scratches! As for the record overall it is flat and shiny.  In room light and by window light it looks as nice as any vinyl I would hope to see.  As ever though the evil desk light is lying in wait and immensely patient. But I really can't determine too much wrong with it under the searchlight. Yes, there are light scuff marks which is solely as a result of living in its sleeve for nearly fifty years.  I'm tempted to give a 9 for condition but best to err on the safe side and say 8.5/10.
As for the sleeve it's the original plain die-cut type with a smooth inner but I'll pack the disc in a poly-lined sleeve and outside the cover.
So, shame about the cover but there we are.  The usual 99p start, no reserve and free UK postage.  And the auction will run to end because it's an auction.
