This is an original 1968 Alice Coltrane - A Monastic Trio - 1st US Press on Impulse! A-9156 Stereo. There are few light spindle marks on the label. The previous owners name has been written on one side - otherwise still very clean. The album has only a few slight scuffs - All of the original gloss is still intact. Using the Goldmine grading system I would grade it VG+. The album jacket exhibits light discoloration inside from storage and the previous owners name is written above "Coltrane". I'd grade it VG - better than that if not for the name. I'm including a brief description of Grades to help clarify them for the novice collector. NEAR MINT: A nearly
perfect record. Basically, an LP in Near Mint condition looks as if you
just got it home from a new record store and removed it from the shrink
wrap. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this. VERY GOOD PLUS: "record will show signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect ones listening experience. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole". VERY GOOD: Surface noise will be evident upon playing but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them". GOOD/GOOD PLUS: "A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seem splits. Tape writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object". S/H is Priority w/tracking & insurance & includes a new album mailer.
