ARTIST - THE CHECKERS TITLE - BUZZ B/W THE BIG CAT LABEL - DOTTIE CATALOG NO - 45-1001
Mega scarce private pressing. From Eastern Washington state. According to a web search, the Checkers were formed in 1957 in the Yakima area. They recorded this single in the Toppenish Grange Hall using borrowed equipment from a local radio station. At one time the group did have rockabilly guitarist Johnny Hensley but I do not know if he is on this song. The record is in VG shape overall, but the Buzz side plays great as you will hear. The Big Cat side has a small scratch at the end which causes a few seconds of popping.  "Buzz" is an excellent R & B instrumental featuring a frenetic saxaphone, with equal parts of stompin' piano and guitar. The Big Cat is a slower burning tune with equal impressive parts of saxophone and guitar. Both songs are credited to Mike Metco. I cannot find him in web searches. This label is relatively unknown, I have found a couple of other records credited to "Dottie" that could be this label here. Enjoy the listen!
International bidders- I do not change values on customs labels, and I may not be able to track in all places. Please wait for invoice. For items over $50.00 I ship priority only. I can combine shipping! Many times it means I can ship up to 3 LP's U.S. for the same cost as one, and possibly more 45's. International bidders - Combined shipping will be only based on weight, so I will need to know how many items are bought before sending invoice. Thanks again!! Powered by eCommercePlayer.com
