Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart b/w He’s All I Got

We’re having a bit of a clearout of stuff at home so I’ve put my usual eBay sales of art and ephemera mostly to one side for a couple of weeks. I’ve got a large personal collection of vinyl, lots of which I don’t play any more, so one of the things I will be selling is records. During 1963 and 1964 the Supremes had a terrific run of success in the UK with Where Did Our Love Go?, Baby Love and Stop! In The Name Of Love all making the Top Ten, and a couple of other releases making the Top Forty. After that though, things went completely dead for them until You Can’t Hurry Love in 1966 sparked a consistent run of hits well into the 1970s. Supremes singles from 1965 are therefore now pretty hard to find and command quite a premium.

This is an original copy of Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart from 1965, still in its original, orange Motown sleeve (more about the sleeve in a moment). The A-side has only light marks here and there and plays extremely well. He’s All I Got on the B-side does have few scuffs but plays through without any intrusive pops or clicks.

The sleeve is in poor condition as you can see from the second last image but it has obviously been on the record from new. I will supply the record in a brand new, plain white sleeve but will include this original sleeve in case you want to set to work with the scissors and paste to try and preserve record and sleeve together. As you can see, the A-side label has the remains of what was presumably the original price label and scuff marks from the owner’s attempts to remove it.
