Rare 1944 Keynote label 12”, 78 rpm record of the great African-American baritone Paul Robeson (1898 – 1976) (later blacklisted during the McCarthy era) singing the Anthem of the U.S.S.R., composed by A. V. Alexandrov, and on the flip side The United Nations March, composed by Dmitri Shostakovich. (FDR proposed the creation of the U.N. in 1941, so when Robeson recorded this march the international organization was still in the planning stages.)
Robeson is backed by the Keynote Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Charles Lichter.
This is Keynote record no. 1200.
