There are several Cuban and non-Cuban musicians with the moniker of Chocolate. This Chocolate is the conga player and ex-long time member of Arsenio Rodriguez's Cuban conjunto, in fact it was Felix Alfonso-"Chocolate" that replaced Arsenio's brother Quique when he was sent to prison. Chocolate is immortalized in the legendary Arsenio song, "Kila, Quique & Chocolate" known in salsa as Tumba y Bongo" Chocolate formed his owned conjunto in 1959 after a stint with Chappottín y sus Estrellas. When Arsenio returned to Cuba around 1957 he chose Chocolate to form a conjunto to accompany him. In 1960 Estrellas de Chocolate toured the island of Curacao and became immensely popular, when they returned to Cuba, they recorded this LP. Finally around 1964 they recorded a song that would give NY's most famous Latin records label it's name. They recorded Fanía, an afro-cuban ditty which Johnny Pacheco picked up and covered on the first Fania Records label release, however due to the lack of accent Fanía-fahneeah became Fania-fahnya.
This recording features the legendary tresero Papi Oviedo, the amazing trumpet of "El Gorila", David Palomares-piano and their signature Cuban Black conjunto sound, a very macho group.

Photos seen were taken with my cell camera, not the highest resolution, it's the actual LP Due to the new ebay policy for photos, I had to enlarge images making them slightly distorted.
As a life long record collector, I protect and pack records very well before shipping using a traditional cardboard LP mailer.
