Original 1964 RARE Yellow and Black pressing of one of The Beatles most sought after LP's. An exceptional pressing in very clean condition that plays brilliantly from start to finish.

A Hard Day's Night is the third studio album by the Beatles, released on 10 July 1964, with side one containing songs from the soundtrack to their film A Hard Day's Night. The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier, on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records, with a different track listing. This is the first Beatles album to be recorded entirely on four-track tape, allowing for good stereo mixes with the vocals in the centre.

In contrast to their first two albums, all 13 tracks on A Hard Day's Night were written by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison showcasing the development of the band's songwriting talents. The album contains some of their most famous songs, including the title track, with its distinct, instantly recognisable opening chord, and the previously-released "Can't Buy Me Love"; both were transatlantic number-one singles for the band.
In 2000, Q placed A Hard Day's Night at number five in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant!  sound quality throughout. This is a stunning STEREO pressing of A Hard Days Night, with sensational audio that's loud, bright and true. It really is an astounding original pressing. The sound is clean and crisp, even between the tracks there is barely any surface sound at all. This great record plays beyond the visual grading and has virtually very little surface sound. It plays through with great power and clarity. The tones are beautifully defined in this original UK pressing, with a great depth of sound, each channel being clearly defined, with a warm rich audio which is infinitely superior to later pressings.

This is an extremely thick quality pressing with the wide pressed grooves, making the audio play back pack an incredible punch. Strong, undistorted sound free of any loud pops or clicks. The channels are clean and unstressed. The record plays with staggering power, with barely any detectable surface sound at all. I will give a detailed account below:

'A Hard Days Night' bursts in with superb clear audio. Bright loud sound, there are no pops or clicks, very little static and certainly no distortion. 'I Should Have Known Better' plays with perfect separation leading into the quieter 'If I Fell'. This track is the first real test for Hard Days Night, with multi layering but also a sparseness, it plays superbly. Silence in the run ins, the vocal clarity is incredible. NO occasional static and NO pops, clicks or even static tics. Again very quiet between tracks and then into 'Im Happy Just To Dance With You' which sounds great, with just a bit of light static between the tracks. 'And I Love Her', plays beautifully, and its such a delicate track the sound quality is perfect. This couldn't be bettered for clarity and silence. Stunning sound.

'Tell Me Why' opens with a very clean intro, amazingly clear and bright. There is no static in the middle as there nearly always is. Two very faint pops only, and they're barely noticeable. 'Cant Buy Me Love', sounds great, again with no pops or clicks, just great music, all the sound effects that make up this track are sharp and clear. No light static during any parts of the track, it rounds off side one and sounds wonderful with bright rockous audio.

Side 2. begins with the classic upbeat 'Any Time At All'. It plays through brilliantly with no pops or clicks, and no static during the music. 'I'll Cry Instead' plays beautifully, again with no light occasional static, and no obvious sound interference. There is a tiny bit of static between the tracks but nothing obtrusive. 'Things We Said Today' sounds great, with no loud pops or other sound interruptions. Being ultra critical, I couldn't even hear a single light tic during the music. 'When I Get Home' plays with great clear sound.

'You Cant Do That' sounds superb, with bright clear sound and NO pops or clicks. 'There's a Place' maintains the high standard of this great vinyl, it plays superbly, with amazingly clear loud sound. Rounding off the album  with 'I'll Be Back', the track sounds great, with no pops or clicks, just clear, bright rockous sound.

This is a great press of A Hard Days Night, with no loud clicks or pops anywhere and certainly other interference's. There is virtually no light static to report anywhere, and that is unbelievably rare for ANY vinyl, let along one thats fifty years old. Great music with great clarity, and hard to find with this type of sound.

The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. A great all round example of this great vinyl.

I would give this great record an audio grading of EXCELENT to NEAR MINT.

The Record

This is a great pressing of A Hard Days Night. A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing.

Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original pressings, this vinyl has been barely played. There are a couple of ultra light faint surface hairiness but these are very light and completely non sounding.

This is a great example, clear grooves that deliver absolutely amazing audio clarity.

Graded at EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT.

THE LABELS

A wonderful set of Parlophone Labels. Deep colour with slight fading and barely a single spindle trace. These famous Yellow and Black labels in great Condition, with no scratches or writing. Great all round examples.

Grades at NEAR MINT.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER

This great cover is the rare press version with the - 'Printed and Made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. text on the rear and flip back design and is in stunning condition; it would be hard to ever better.

The front is in great condition, with a great sheen. It is flat and crisp with very little wear to the corners and just some light laminate creasing. The flip backs are intact with some light creasing. The spine and spine text is totally intact and the spine is undamaged, although there are a couple of light creases. Some very light yellowing and barely any marks on the back panel. The opening edges are very square and un frayed which is virtually unheard of with these rare covers. This is a great example.

Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS.

THE INNER

Comes with The Original First Press Inner Sleeve with Polythene Lining, intact and in outstanding condition. States: "USE EMITEX..." & "IMPORTANT - TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR MICROGROOVE RECORDS ...", as well as a replacement inner sleeve for added protect in great condition, - NO tears around the die cut opening, NO seem splits and NO wear at the top. Just some light discolouration and a very small pen tic. A great example.

Graded at EXCELLENT.

RARITY

The STEREO pressings of A Hard Days Night were produced in a very small run compared to the MONO version.

Original pressings of A Hard Days Night are getting very rare, and available issues are getting scarcer by the day. Original pressings in great condition are highly sort after, collectable and fast becoming very difficult to find. There are a mixture of new and old formats being sold from the very early days of this albums release, without any doubt that these Yellow and Black label issues sold out fast. What is certain is that the ratio of original format copies is tiny compared to the many pressed and re-pressed later versions.

Finding a STEREO Yellow and Black Parlophone pressing in great condition is very rare indeed. The vinyl is so often over played on poor equipment, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any Yellow and Black  examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays practically perfectly, is very rare.

The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is one of the better examples. Finding a great cover like this, with a great piece of vinyl, fantastic!

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:

Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
