Rare pre-war 10-inch 78 rpm shellac record: MISS JONES & MR. MURRAY - Oh, You Coon (Darky Duet [Ada Jones and Billy Murray]) b/w COLLINS & HARLAN - Down in Georgia on Campmeeting Day (Darky Shout) - Victor 16018, with large dog label. Hard to find, precedes the later version with batwing label; recorded in 1908. Two sold for $90 and $100 back in 2013, but I don't see any record of one being available since then, hence the caution of the high opening bid.
Condition is VG to VG+ (still has some sheen, has several long but soft scuffs, a 1/4-inch scratch that I can feel, and a couple of soft surface scratches that I can't feel; clean labels with no spindle marks).
A NOTE ON SHIPPING SHELLAC RECORDS: I use the floating method, with the record sandwiched between strong pieces of cardboard with corrugate in opposite directions, then placed inside a larger sturdy box with packing material all around inside to prevent any movement (either peanuts, large-bubble wrap, or crumpled paper). Sometimes if I have old 10" LP jackets I don't need, I will put your record in it before sandwiching; otherwise will be in a paper sleeve. I will also always insure these with the USPS. Due to the extra time, materials, insurance, and overall high level of stress associated with shipping these safely (YOU know!), I am asking $6.00 for Media Mail shipping ($4 is actual shipping cost). I think it is reasonable, and I get the feeling that most collectors who buy these online are happy to pay a little extra for the added assurance.
