Hello and a sincere thank you for considering this record. Whenever I list an item such as this, from the higher end records I’m presently listing, I will try to be as accurate as possible (as I do with all my vintage listings) but go that little extra with the description. I’m asking what I consider a fair price but still an expensive request so any flaws I can find will be pointed out even if it may cost me a sale. I want us both to be happy with the transaction. I use the” Do onto others” philosophy when selling on eBay. Read on...

This listing consists of the above pictured album. It is an Authentic and Original VERSION 1 of The Beatles ‘ Introducing The Beatles’ LP 1062 from Vee Jay Records. Released around the same time as Capitol’s ‘Meet The Beatles’ (either slightly before or after depending on the many expert sources you can pick from, I say slightly before) Vee Jay was granted a small window by the courts to sell Beatles records and tried the best they could to sell as many Beatles records as possible within that window.

The pressing I’m offering here exemplifies that point as a Standard Vee Jay 45/single sized label was used for the batch this copy came from. Rather than wait for the printer, they used for their labels, to send the proper size, it was decided to press these 12” records with the 45 labels they had on hand. When they realized it could be done without any problems, as far as the playback of the record, the pressing machines were turned on resulting in a rarer pressing of an already rare record.

Version 1 (as I’m sure you know) uses 2 songs that were not listed in the court’s decision being ‘Love Me Do’ & P.S. I Love You’. After initial copies of this record were pressed ‘Ask Me Why’ & Please, Please, Me’ replaced the above mentioned songs for the following and all future pressings creating a second version of this initial USA LP Beatles release. Enough of the history lesson, let’s discuss the condition.

Cover:

The sleeve rates a solid VG+ using the strictest guides. A ton of original gloss is retained. There are NO seam splits present. The spine and construction are strong and solid. The colors are bright and very sharp. Visible flaws are as follows. There is a mild surface wrinkle along George’s arm. There is some “lite” shelf wear along Paul’s arm at the bottom in a place that 99% of all copies will show wear (I know you know what I’m pointing out if you’ve examined multiple copies over the years). Not necessarily a flaw but the retail store who originally sold this record made a small letter ‘A’ at the lower, right, back cover for exchange purposes and lightly stamped their logo upper left back cover. I have several records from this era with the near exact markings from this same long gone “Mom & Pop” store (they marked my White Album the same way years later against my wishes and enthusiastic pleadings). That’s about all I can point out but I request you to really examine the provided photos. I use strong, professional photographer lamps so expanding and studying these photos should answer any condition concerns you might have.

Vinyl:

It’s beautiful. The record looks and PLAYS as it did when it just came off the press. Honestly sounds as good or better than any copies I’ve ever had. You can hopefully see the condition clearly in the pictures I’ve provided. No marks, perfect gloss and a very sharp edge along the entire perimeter. If you’re fortunate enough to own multiple pressings of this album this one I’m offering might be your new go-to issue when the mood to listen to one hits. The 45 sized labels are bright and sharp with fantastic rainbows around the edge. For those who have access to the Bruce Spizer book “Songs, Pictures And Stories Of The Fabulous Beatles Records On Vee-Jay” this record has the designation number - VJ 1062 (1). MR2 - and can be found on page #129. Even Authentic Vee Jay Labels can show various quality in regards to the rainbow colors bleeding into each other. Some ‘boot’ Vee Jay Labels can look better than the real thing on occasion but not these. The colors graduate perfectly. The only flaw I’ll point out is on - label side 2. A line runs from the “I” in ‘P.S. I Love You’ to the “A” in ‘A Taste Of Honey’, again see the provided photo. It’s a manufacturing flaw that was present from the beginning.

That’s about all I can tell you about this gem but if you want me to answer any additional questions you might have I’d be more than glad to. I can usually respond pretty quickly.

To sum up;

Next to a sealed or perfect mint copy I believe this is as good as it gets, especially the vinyl. Very solid all around with great playback and only minor flaws with spindle-mark free 45 sized labels that help tell a story from the early days of Beatlemania. When this record was released who knew what lied ahead in those next 6 years that went by way too quickly.

Selling a big part of my personal collection accrued over 5 decades. Will be listing a few auctions/items weekly. Some very rare BEATLES items among MANY OTHER artists. Please check in from time to time and see what Rarities and Odd pressings I’ve listed from this extensive collection.
