This listing is for an original and complete (and long out of print) Robert Johnson Centennial collection released in 2011. Included along with the 12 vinyl 10” records is a custom, high quality and vintage looking binder which houses them. Additionally there is also a descent booklet with track by track details and related information that also fits nicely in the binder. A DVD documentary and (2) different CD titles are also part of this set. There was a total of 1000 numbered sets produced with this set being numbered at 0210/1000.
All the included records are mint and unplayed. They feature beautifully reproduced labels using the original label designs from vintage first pressings.
On a personal note the vinyl allows you to adjust speed enabling you to change the pitch of the recordings to experiment with the overall sound of Robert Johnson’s voice. This controversial subject will probably never be resolved but it is interesting to hear the differences in how the recordings sound when slowed down a tick or two. I’m positive some of the originals were recorded incorrectly and released with his voice speeded up a bit. Hearing a few of them slowed down sounds much more natural when compared with his other correctly recorded pressings but that is something we all get to experience on an individual basis and decide for ourselves. Just thought I’d share this extra bonus that these magnificent pressings offers.
The included documentary DVD is still sealed having never been opened.
The (2) CDs are in perfect condition and are no longer in their original shrink wrap but the original “hype” sticker included on one of them has been carefully transferred directly onto it’s case (I like to keep things complete).
Please observe the provided photos for your condition concerns.
The mentioned binder is in perfect condition as are the (12) 45rpm disc and booklet. This particular set of (12) records are unplayed. They offer a fantastic set of perfectly reproduced recordings that used the best available surviving sources. The original first pressings of these titles command astronomical prices whenever they do become available from time to time, even when in rough condition, so here’s the next best thing. These records were produced using the strictest guidelines and without cost restriction. Their historical importance along with their place in American music history allowed the best technology the world had to offer to be accessed and enacted when transferring Robert Johnson’s music onto these (12) 10” pieces of vinyl.
As a Thank You from me to the collector who decides on adding this set to their collection I’m including a neat little extra I did come across shortly after acquiring a few of these sets. There was a small sales card included with all the sets promoting a “Hell Hound On My Ale” beer crafted in celebration of Robert Johnson’s 100th birthday (see in pics.) I managed to get a mint label from a collector I know and will tuck it inside the booklet when shipping out the set. Thank you.
Selling a big part of my personal collection accrued over 5 decades. Will be listing a few auctions/items weekly. Some very rare BEATLES items among MANY OTHER artists. Please check in from time to time and see what Rarities and Odd pressings I’ve listed from this extensive collection.
