This is a very nice 33.3 RPM 180g stereo copy of Stanley Turrentine and The 3 Sounds’ recording “Blue Hour” as issued by Music Matters (catalogue number MMBST-84057) featuring Stanley Turrentine, tenor saxaphone; Gene Harris, piano; Andrew Simkins, bass; and Bill Dowdy, drums. All aspects of these Music Matters recordings are really first rate. These are some of the finest quality reissues that I have experienced.  This copy was pressed in the USA. The original recording was released in 1961.

There are several hairline scratches in the lead-out area toward the label both sides and some streaks in the vinyl. The record plays very quietly with only a few light random ticks over both sides.  The heavy gate fold jacket is in very good condition with no seam splits, bends, or tears, but does have a ¼” dent along the right side (where the record is inserted into the jacket) approximately 1.5” from the top edge but is otherwise near mint. The inside cover contains B&W photos of the performers taken by Francis Wolff.   I bought this copy new when it was released as a subscription from Elusive Disc.

The record was been cleaned with Audio Intelligent fluids on a VPI cleaner followed by a second cleaning with an Audio Desk Ultra sonic cleaner.  More recently the records were recleaned with the latest version of the Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner.  It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. I have only played the record a few times since I originally purchased it.

The record was recently play graded using a Lyra Parnassus cartridge on a VPI Classic 4 turntable. The record plays quietly with only a few light ticks over both sides as noted above.

The recording is from my personal collection which I am in the process of reducing.  Look for additional listings to come as I get time to re-listen and grade them.   The records will be carefully packed in bubble wrap with the records removed from the jacket to prevent seam splits. Multiple LPs can be combined in a shipment to save shipping costs.

If you purchase multiple LPs from me, please wait for me to send you an invoice so that I can calculate the correct shipping cost and save money over what eBay would calculate from the individual listings.
