HEIFETZ / BACH LOT : UNACCOMPANIED VIOLIN SONATAS 2 & 3 - Rare Japan Imports NM HEIFETZ / BACH LOT : UNACCOMPANIED VIOLIN SONATAS 2 & 3 - Rare Japan Imports NM Description
Offered, as one lot, are two separate releases featuring the superb violin talents of the great Jascha Heifetz, performing Bach's Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas.
Both of these releases are seldom seen Japanese Pressings. They are from a collection from a former Navy pilot who spent time in Japan during the 1950's. From the back cover and label photos in our Gallery, you can see the reference to "The Victor Company of Japan". My guess is that they were made available by a distributor of consumer goods at what was called "The P.X." on military bases.
Our pilot had in his collection a number of record pressings from the 1950's that had different references to Japan, and since there is precious little information available on any of those particular releases, it is hard to know if they were pressed in the United States for distribution in Japan, or pressed in Japan.
Both LPs are in the same Near Mint, investment-grade condition:
BOTH VINYL RECORDS- NM : This top grade applies to both of these superb LPs. They are lightly played, with no visible spindlewear, and bright, undamaged, Red and Silver Victor labels (please see photos).
Each of the four sides retains all of the original gloss, and other than some light cosmetic sleevewear from the original paper inner sleeves, there are no marks on any side.
The records have been carefully handled, and the audio playback is impressive.
BOTH COVERS - NM : Please see photos / both covers have been manufactured using a heavy plastic outer sleeve, and an attached paper inner sleeve. The cover photos in our gallery appear to show wrinkling in the covers - however the covers are not wrinkled - that appearance comes from the attached plastic sleeves.
They have been exceptionally well-stored / bright colors / sharp corners / no edgewear / no ringwear / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact / no writing, paper loss, stains or dirt.

THIS RECORD IS SIGHT-GRADED ONLY UNDER A BRIGHT LIGHT, ACCORDING TO THESE DEFINITIONS:
SEALED: RECORD IS WRAPPED IN PLASTIC & UNOPENED.
NM-: RECORD HAS LITTLE OR NO INDICATION THAT IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EX: MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE (LIGHT SCRATCHING/PAPER SCUFFS), BUT IN ALL A RECORD THAT HAS BEEN WELL-CARED FOR.
VG+: LESS CARE THAN EX, LIGHT SCRATCHING OR SCUFFING IS MORE EXTENSIVE. STILL VERY PLAYABLE & WILL LIKELY PROVIDE A QUALITY SOUND.
VG & BELOW: WHILE PLAYABLE, THIS RECORD HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK. OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR & SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE IN A LOW GRADE. A RECORD GRADED BELOW VG MAY HAVE A VALUE BASED UPON ITS RARITY OR UNIQUENESS.
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CLEAN THIS RECORDING BEFORE PLAYING. RECORDS THAT ARE DECADES OLD CAN ATTRACT & ACCUMULATE DAMAGING FOREIGN MATERIAL THAT REDUCES SOUND QUALITY. THIS IS NORMALLY EASILY CORRECTED WITH A GOOD CLEANING.
