Offered here is a complete 3-record set of the Mercury "Living Presence" Stereo SR3-9016 1965 release with the dark maroon labels -- Johann Sebastian Bach: Suites for Unaccompanied Cello Complete, Janos Starker.
In some of the photos, the labels look red due to the camera's automatic white balance, but all three records have the early DARK MAROON Mercury labels, and not the later red Mercury labels.
Dead wax markings "MR" and "RFR-3; "RFR-1," "MR" and PR;" "RFR-2," "MR" and "M2," and "MR" and "M3."
I am conservatively listing these records as Very Good-Plus condition.
I acquired this set from the original owner last week and played each of the six sides once, and only once -- using a cleaned, low-hours Denon DL-110 MC cartridge --  to grade the sound quality/condition of these records. All six sides played beautifully start-to-finish, and substantiated the glowing reviews I've read about this early Mercury set. Superb sonics and in my experience as dead quiet as vinyl gets. I did not hear one single "pop" or "tick," which to me indicates that, while there are a few visible scratches, not one of them causes any audible artifacts.
I have never heard any record new or vintage sound better and with less surface noise than these three. The sound of all three of these records is absolutely magnificent.
...but since I can see minor paper marks and the occasional super-thin, super-shallow scratches, I am conservatively listing these records as Very Good-Plus condition because of the the visual condition factor.
The box is only in Fair to Good condition. With good intentions, the original owner repaired the few paper and cardboard tears and storage wear with one piece of acid-free museum/archival book repair tape (on the corner of the spine and back), and a few pieces of acid-free scrapbooking tape elsewhere. The front looks nice. The spine of the box has one small spot of red paint and one small spot of green paint (see photo).
Insert booklet is in Very Good condition.
No odors of any kind anywhere.
There is no writing of any kind anywhere.
The generic paper sleeves may be original or not, I'm not sure. They are in Fair condition, not beautiful, not perfect, but in serviceable condition.
Records and the box be well packed and shipped in a custom corrugated box that is more protective than the usual LP shipping box. To be shipped via USPS Parcel Select Ground, and not Media Mail.
I am a music lover and vinyl collector but not an expert when it comes to selling records, so please ask me to clarify or elaborate if I'm not describing this set adequately.
Please ask me any questions before you place a bid. No returns, no refunds.
