1990 UK EMI 12EMPD 153 12" Picture Disc 'Holy Smoke / All In Your Mind / Kill Me Ce Soir'. At 144g this disc is of a nice medium weight and is flat as to make no difference. If I was a gambling man (which I'm not) I'd say it was unplayed because there are no particular signs as such and the vinyl has a lovely sheen and feels clean in the hands. In room daylight it looks great.
Under the evil and all-knowing table lamp I see some light scuffs and hairlines on Side B (the text side with the band photo) which I attribute to storage contact with the insert over the years and which is ever so typical. Side A (the full photo) is really nice. I'm tempted to give the disc a 9 but let's say 8.75 /10 for condition overall.
The single but double sided insert is solid and sharp with some corner creasing and a few age spots so 8 /10 in recognition of the cosmetic blemishes. And the plastic sleeve is a bit wrinkled and grubby with a 6cm bottom seam split but its done a good protection job over the last 30 years!
1992 UK EMI 12EMP 229 12" Picture Disc 'Be Quick...Or Be Dead / Nodding Donkey Blues / Space Station No. 5'. It's 145g and flat with a lot going on visually not least with the background newspaper theme etc. on both sides of the vinyl and so is a particular favourite among fans.
It has a bright look to it (dare I say newish?) and feels clean in the hands. Again, I'd be hard pressed to say whether it's seen any turntable action but by that you can tell it's a very nice example. Sure, has some light storage scuffs when viewed with a magnifying glass under the searchlight but it's the worse I can say about it really, so I'm plumbing for 9/10 for condition and same for the clean insert.
And happy to report the pvc sleeve is intact yet mildly wrinkled and grubby.
1992 UK EMI EMPD 240 7" Shaped Picture Disc 'From Here To Eternity / I Can't See My Feeling'. At 83g the shaped picture disc is in very clean and bright shape and with no cloudiness of the 'clear' parts of the record as is often seen. It has a hint of dishing yet nothing to lose sleep over and yet again I figure it's hardly seen any play action and probably none at all. Allowing for the usual storage blemishes I'm going for 9 /10.
Both the backing insert and virgin unused plinth are in very nice shape and deserve 9 /10 each also.
Finally, the plastic sleeve has a 1cm bottom seam tear but otherwise is in acceptable form for its' age.
Always I start at 99p and see the auction through to the finish.
