THIS IS THEIR DEBUT ALBUM , "MUSIC FROM THE BIG PINK". BECAUSE IT IS SEALED, I CAN'T SEE THE MATRIX NUMBERS TO TELL YOU WHAT PRESSING IT IS. IT IS A GATEFOLD COVER. MY GUESS IS THAT IT IS NOT A FIRST BUT PROBABLY A LATER PRESSING. THERE IS A SMALL BULLET HOLE ON BOTTOM LEFT AND A SMALL OPENING ON COVER.

The album itself was recorded in studios in New York and Los Angeles in 1968, and followed the band's backing of  on his  (as the Hawks) and time spent together in upstate New York recording material that was officially released in 1975 as , also with Dylan. It was voted number 452 in the third edition of 's  (2000). In 2003, the album was ranked number 34 on  magazine's list of , maintaining the rating in a 2012 revised list.The laid-back feel of the album attracted the attention of other major artists.
