The Beatles 1969 UK LP Apple PCS 7088 'Abbey Road', stereo with matrices YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1 for Sides 1 and 2 respectively on the dead wax run-offs.
The Garrod & Lofthouse single sleeve is fully laminated which has protected the corners, edges and spine to a large degree. It's in clean, solid and square shape with no seam or side splits, rips or tears. It does show ringwear along with some very mild corner and mouth wear and typically the plastic laminate shrinks over time and leaves creasing as is the case here. So the sleeve is sound yet with age related cosmetic blemishes and I rate it 7.5 /10 for condition.
The album was released with either black or white inner sleeves and here we have an official 'Apple' white sleeve with copyright text blurb. I say 'white' but age has introduced foxing and wrinkling yet it's intact and strong with just a 15mm edge split on one side. Another 7.25 /10 for this bag. (Note: I'll pack the vinyl in a separate inner sleeve and outside the main sleeve for travel).
At 148g the shiny vinyl is of nice weight. The dark green apple and 'sliced' labels are clean as shown and I figure the record has only had a handful of plays as witnessed by the few spindle 'spider' tracks at the tight hole.
I'm angling the disc at the window in room daylight and the playing surfaces look really clean. Next, under a cruel and unforgiving led light I see some light scuffs and hairlines but nothing to fret over. Visually therefore I give the record 8.5 /10.
It plays well on my Linn / Naim system with occasional ticks from the dead band tracks and quiet sections along with the odd pop so aurally I give it 8.5 /10 also.
As always, no problem to return if you disagree with my subjective judgements.
99p start and the auction will run to the end.
