1969 Melodisc MS 4 UK LP 'Oldies But Goodies - Prince Buster & Other Stars' with 15 tracks.
The sturdy sleeve has laminated front and flipbacks with a 'plain' rear. So it's sturdy yet with corner rubs, edge wear, ringwear and laminate shrinkage creasing. And the back has a torn flipback, age browning and grubbiness plus some retailer's stamps. Sounds worse than it is, I'm just listing the blemishes for completeness!
I give the sleeve 5.5 /10 by way of condition.
The blue and black FAB labels are indeed fab as shown with a tight centre hole showing signs of just a few plays of the disc.
On my scale the flat and bright record shows 137g. Matrices on the dead wax run-offs are MS4 A//1 & MS4 B//1 respectively.
Angling the vinyl under a bright light I see light scuffs and hairlines so visually I rate the disc 6 /10 also for condition.
Playtesting on my hi-fi my first impression is what a great album with a mix of styles; interspersed with the reggae beat etc, is almost some jazz, country & western, rockabilly and soul flavouring. Great stuff.
I hear some pops and clicks, particularly on the dead bands but nothing to get in the way of enjoyment of the record. Let's say 7 /10 for sound quality.
