1955 LP Record FRANK SINATRA WEE SMALL HOURS W-581 CAPITOL 1st SCRANTON VG+/EX
Two years ago, we were blessed to acquire a world class (mostly classical) LP & 78 RPM record collection which we have been dispersing on eBay. This LP record set came from an estate group assembled by a man who worked for over 20 years in the East Carolina University (ECU) Music Library in Greenville, NC. His interest was mostly Classical & Opera, both LPs & also 78s. But some Jazz, Blues & quite a bit of southern gospel related stuff came in from this collection also.
We're still selling from this huge group!!
This lifelong collection of records was assembled by a discriminating, condition only, audiophile collector. While, I can not play test these LPs because I do not own a turntable, I am happy to report that the vast majority of these albums remain in EX condition with no heavy playware—for the most part, clean shiny vinyl with generally little evidence of scratching or abuse present.
Please see the many excellent feedbacks that we have received from the records from this huge estate collection! And if you bought gospel LPs from us last year, here is more of the "good stuff".
Understanding that many LP record collectors do not use liquid cleaners, I have not cleaned any of these discs with any liquid cleaners or anything else for that matter. Some were simply wiped will a dry micro fiber cloth. Hence, some records will show some minor prints, dust & surface soiling. We’ll allow the new owner to clean as they see fit.
In the case of the covers, we will let the good images speak for themselves but any flaws will be described or shown (like seam splits).
You'll find some rare offerings here!!!
In this auction, you will receive the following rare first press FRANK SINATRA LP Record:
1955 "IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS" W-581 CAPITOL 1st SCRANTON PRESSING VG+/EX
Original mono pressing with gray labels that have silver print and a 3/4 circular ring on the label, indicative of the early pressing.
Anvil stamped in runouts denotes the Capitol Records Pressing Plant of Scranton, PA pressing.
Matrix / Runout (Side 1 run-out, stamped): - W1-581-N1 (Anvil)
Matrix / Runout (Side 2 run-out, stamped): S W2-581-D15 "3 (Anvil)
NM/EX. The beginning of Side 2 has (2) 1 1/2" scratches of the lightest variety only that could lightly sound (please note final image). Otherwise, some surface paper scuffs and light incidental scratches & tiny ticks on each side of the most light & incidental sort.
This 65 year old record is well preserved in the extreme & both sides should play fabulously indeed!!!
